Major credit cards are widely accepted throughout Croatia at banks, hotels, stores, restaurants, taxis, car rental companies, and for air, ship and rail tickets. They can also be used to get a cash advance at most ATM’s. Some banks do not accept VISA.
The import and export of foreign currencies are free to visitors however a declaration is required for amounts over HRK40,000.
The import and export of local currencies is limited to HRK15,000. Larger amounts need to be approved beforehand

ATMS are plentiful throughout Croatia and will accept all major debit and credit cards. Most post offices, banks, authorized bureau de changes and hotels will exchange foreign currency and travellers cheques easily between Monday and Saturday and also on a Sunday in the big cities. Please note that most hotels will show their prices in Deutschmarks however this will then be converted into Croatian Kuna when you pay using that days exchange rate.
The banking hours in Croatia are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays banks are open until 1 p.m. In the larger cities some banks are also open on Sundays.
