The Euro is now the official currency of Finland. Finland's prior currency, the Mark, has now been phased out as legal tender and is no longer accepted.
Most major credit cards and Eurocheque cards are accepted in large cities and tourist areas. However, credit cards are less widely accepted in Finland than they are in the USA or the UK and some smaller hotels may require bills to be paid in cash.
Euro travelers cheques are not widely accepted and you are likely to have to pay commission per cheque cashed rather than for the amount. It is more advisable to take Euro’s cash.
There are no restrictions on the import and export of currencies between European union members.
