Currency Guide Luxembourg

Currency

The Euro is now the official currency of Luxembourg. Luxembourg's prior currency, the Franc, has now been phased out as legal tender and is no longer accepted.

Credit Cards

American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa and others are all widely accepted, as well as Eurocheque cards. Many retailers require a minimum of EUR10 to EUR25 before accepting credit cards. Check with your credit card company for details of merchant acceptability and other services which may be available.

Traveller's Cheques

Travellers cheques are accepted everywhere. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travellers are advised to take travellers cheques in Euros.

Currency Regulations

There are no restrictions on the import and export of either local or foreign currency.
