The Euro is now the official currency of the Netherlands. Netherlands prior currency, the Dutch Guilder, has now been phased out as legal tender and is no longer accepted.
American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa and others are all widely accepted, as well as Eurocheque cards. Check with your credit card company for details of merchant acceptability and other services which may be available.
Travelers cheques are accepted everywhere. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travelers are advised to take travelers cheques in Euros.
There are no restrictions on the import and export of either local or foreign currency.
