International credit cards such as American Express, VISA, Diners Club and MasterCard are widely used although credit cards are generally not accepted at supermarkets and petrol stations.
The import and export of local and foreign currencies are free. Amounts over NOK25,000 or its equivalent must be declared to customs.

Foreign currency and travellers checks can be exchanged at banks and major post offices, as well as many hotels and travel agents, although for poorer rates.
Cash machines are available all throughout Norway and they accept foreign cards. The regular banking hours in Norway is Mon-Wed, Fri 08.15-15.30, Thu 08.15-17, Sat closed.
