Credit Cards

American Express, Diners club, Mastercard and VISA are all widely acceptable in Saudi Arabia, however it is advisable to check with your bank for merchant acceptability and other services before you leave.

Currency Regulations

The import and export of local currencies is limited to 100,000 riyals.

The import or export of foreign currencies is free apart from the Israeli currency which is forbidden.

The import and export of local currencies is limited to RUB50,000.

Currency Exchange

The exchange of foreign currency in Saudi Arabia is quite straightforward and can be done at any bank or any money changer. Money changers generally stay open longer but do not offer as competitive rates. Travellers Cheques are much harder to change but if you take travellers cheques it is advisable to take them in Euros, Pound Sterling or Dollars and to carry the purchase receipt with you.

The banking hours in Saudi Arabia are Sat-Wed 0830-1200 and 1700-1900; Thurs 0830-1200. Money-changers stay open longer.
