In Thailand, Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks and larger hotels, generally banks have the best rates and unlike the hotels do not charge any commission. Bureau de changes are also scattered around and are available to change money between 8am and 8pm. Outside large towns and tourist areas, notes higher than THB500 may be difficult to exchange, so you are advised to carry small change. Travelers cheques are accepted by all banks and large hotels and shops. To avoid additional exchange rate charges, travelers are advised to take travelers cheques in US Dollars, Euros or Pounds Sterling.
